Our commitment

We build websites and applications for public agencies, where accessibility is a requirement rather than an enhancement. We hold our own site to the same target.

Standard we build to

This site is designed and built to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. On public-sector projects we also build to Section 508 expectations, and we run automated accessibility testing as part of delivery.

What that means on this site

Semantic HTML structure with a logical heading order
Text alternatives for images that carry meaning, and empty alternatives for images that are decorative
Keyboard navigation throughout, with a visible focus indicator
Color contrast checked against WCAG AA thresholds for text and interactive elements
Layout that reflows on small screens and holds up at 200 percent zoom
Link text that makes sense on its own, without relying on surrounding copy
No auto-playing audio or video, and no content that flashes
No cookie banners, interstitials, or overlays to navigate around

An honest statement of conformance

We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA and we test against it. We do not claim perfect conformance, because a claim like that is difficult to make truthfully about any real site. If you find something that does not work with your assistive technology, that is a defect and we want to know.

Third-party content

Where this site links out, including to our platform at upcommute.com and to client program sites, those destinations have their own accessibility practices and this statement does not cover them.
