AQMD Travel Survey Tools

Employers in the Inland Empire report employee travel behavior to satisfy regional air quality rules. Media Beef built the tools that make that reporting possible inside the IE Commuter website: the travel survey import tools and a direct web-based survey instrument.

The instrument follows the standard assessment protocol, including a mobile-responsive one-week data collection window. Matching the protocol exactly is what makes the resulting data acceptable for compliance, and making it mobile responsive is what makes employees actually complete it during that one week.

Scale is the other design constraint. Program budgets contemplate up to 200,000 employee travel surveys annually, so the import path and the survey path both have to handle volume without staff intervention. In a September 2015 Riverside County employer survey conducted through the platform, the response rate was 100 percent.
